We are requiring that all participants be available and commit to attending at least 3 visits.

The Race, Prison, Justice Arts project seeks to bring student artists together with incarcerated individuals at Nashua Street Jail to share in the power of the arts. The BU Prison Arts project believes in the power of the arts to build community and understanding, express and affirm identity, and to cultivate joy and meaningful connection. This event will bring together students and incarcerated individuals in sharing music, theatre, spoken word, movement, visual art, or other creative play.
We are restricting our group to 10 members of the BU community for each visit. Depending on the number of applicants, we may not be able to accept all who express interest into these visits. We will be prioritizing current BU students for this visit, but alumni and community members are still encouraged to complete the form if you are interested.
There is significant labor and permissions involved with getting clearance for participation. When you commit to participate and then pull out, you prevent others from having an opportunity since it takes time to get clearance and orient new participants and we are limited in the number of students we can bring for each visit. Of course we understand that life emergencies and sickness happens. We are requesting that once you make a commitment to participate, that you honor it to the absolute best of your ability.
